Château Guiraud, 1er cru classé - 2001

Promoted to the Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855, Château Guiraud is produced from the finest terroirs of Sauternes. The blend is composed of Semillion (65%) and Sauvignon (35%). The vines grow on soils of serious characteristics of the left bank of Bordeaux. The grapes are carefully sorted and harvested to keep only those affected by the famous noble rot, essential to Bordeaux sweet wines.
The style of Château Guiraud is flamboyant: rich in liquor, very aromatic and perfectly balanced. Young, it develops aromas of exotic fruits and citrus fruits. As it evolves, it is adorned with characteristic notes of saffron and bitter orange jam.

In 2006, a division of the plots with satellite surveillance, a policy of environmental protection, even of reasoned control, and daily work allowed them to offer a fresh and supple wine, taking shape over the years and possessing the characteristics of an excellent Pauillac. After manual harvesting and selective sorting, the wine is left for maceration and malolactic fermentation, before being finally blended. Then comes the aging in stave oak barrels and its aromas. Opulent, rich and ever more precise from vintage to vintage, such are its characteristics. Young, it remains fine and generous, immediately attractive. Over the years, it retains its grace, develops a fantastic aromatic complexity and is able to go very far.
Grape varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), then Merlot (15%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (5%).

75 cl : 230.00 Fr.

Château Pontet Canet, 5ième Grand Cru Classé - 2015

In 2015, Pontet Canet used 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot in its blend. Biodynamics allowing the grapes to ripen earlier with thick-skinned grapes and the quality of the terroir have made it possible to achieve a great vintage. Pontet Canet 2015 deeply expresses powerful perfumes of violet, licorice and a wide and greedy aromatic palette of black cherries, all on a very refreshing and pure touch of cedar or exotic wood. The entry in the mouth shows dynamics on a good acidic support, then letting the wine develop with a very neat and sappy tannic body, elegant and sheathed tannins. The retro-olfaction recalls some red fruits mixed with spicy notes giving gain (nervousness) to the wine.

Château Mouton Rothschild, 1er Cru Classé - 1988

The harvest is carried out manually. The grapes, once destemmed, are put in vats without going through the press. Each vat has a different size corresponding to the various plots of the castle.
Aging for around twenty months is done in the purest Médoc tradition, entirely in new barrels, with topping and fining with egg white in order to stabilize the wine by precipitating the solid particles remaining towards the bottom of the barrel.
Most vintages offer opulence, richness and depth, embellished with a remarkable aromatic complexity ranging from blackcurrant to roasted coffee, including mint and fine leather.
The particularity of Château Mouton-Rothschild is to collaborate each year with an artist to design a unique label for wine. We can thus find labels made by Chagall, Braque, Picasso, Dali, Francis Bacon and even Prince Charles of England!

Château Branaire Ducru, 4ième Grand Cru Classé - 2000

In the cellar, the fruit is respected thanks to a gentle and minimally invasive vinification. Thus, the grapes are completely destemmed and then lightly crushed before being vatted. Maceration lasts three weeks. A few pumping-overs, the number of which depends on the vintages, are carried out. With the same aim of preserving the fruit, the extraction is desired to be gentle and is supplemented by a limited use of press wine. Aging lasts 16 to 18 months in barrels which are 60% renewed every year.
This cuvée is available from four or five years old, very pleasant after 10 years, but its aging potential allows it to be tasted until its 50, 60 or 80, depending on the vintage. Fragrant, rich and deep, it represents the quintessence of the spirit of Saint-Julien wines. It is thus distinguished, with great straightforwardness and immense elegance as the tannins blend.

Château Léoville Poyferré, a Second Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Julien, signs a wine now renowned for its sumptuous texture, its inimitable smoothness, its elegance and its exceptional aging potential.
To achieve this, the estate has cultivated its vines of Cabernet Sauvignon (dominant in the blend), Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet-Franc on gravelly soils and clay sands composed of pebbles and gravel. It is therefore here that the vines draw their letters of nobility and are the object of all the attentions. Thus, the harvest is done by hand and the harvest is carefully sorted twice before the start of the vinification. These are done in stainless steel vats in order to preserve the purity and identity of the fruit and the wine is then aged in new barrels for 18 to 20 months. A technique which gives the wine a beautiful substance and, above all, as we said, a very good aging potential.

The considerable presence of gravel - or pebbles - in the soil of the vineyard, moreover at the origin of the name of the cru, is far from foreign to the quality of the wine. Perfectly balanced, this one reveals a beautiful aromatic bouquet, sublimated by cedar wood and spices. Singularly long to develop, it requires at least ten years to express all its finesse and complexity.

Château Cheval-Blanc remains with each new classification in the elite of Saint-Emilion wines. It brings the sensation of maturity and greed when the carbernet franc, for its part, structures the wine. Its color is deep, of an intense ruby. On the nose, it is an explosion of floral notes but also of violet and blackcurrant. This fruit is found in the mouth amid powerful tannins. Cheval Blanc is one of the most concentrated Saint-Emilions, it requires between 15 and 25 years of aging to fully deliver. It has this special grace, a perfect balance and a touch of the mouth that brings it closer to its great neighbors of Pomerols. A wine of anthology.
